If you happen to drop by Devolutions HQ (and you’re always welcome!), you’ll see that we’re in the process of doubling our workspace so that we have more room to welcome great new team members – including David Savard, our newest Web Software Developer.

To get to know David a bit better, I recently had a chat with him. Here’s a look at our conversation (as usual, my questions are in bold followed by David’s responses):

Can you tell me a bit about your professional background?

I’ve been in the software development field for more than 15 years, and enjoy working on both the front-end and back-end. My primary language used to be C#, but now I’m mostly working with JavaScript.

What would you say is your biggest professional achievement so far?

I think it would be that I’ve been able to play different roles – such as developer, team leader, and project manager – and consistently delivered good results.  Oh, and I don’t know if this counts as a professional achievement, but I finished Dark Souls 2 last night and I’m proud of that!

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

There’s a lot to like about Devolutions, and it has a very good reputation. But after reading the blog post on choosing the best board games, I realized that I simply had to work here.

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

I would say that I’m a team player, I like solving problems, and I’m able to stay focused on big picture objectives without getting lost in the details.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?

I’m currently working on the web front-end of for various Devolutions’ products. I’m using Angular 2 and Typescript with the WebStorm IDE.

What are your impressions about working here?

It’s pretty awesome.  The environment is very stimulating, there is a perfect balance between working hard and having fun. I’m working with an excellent team and I’m learning a lot.

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

I hope to be able to contribute to the growth of the company by creating the best software possible.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

I’m a big fan of retro gaming, such as Atari 2600, Coleco Vision, NES, and so on. I also enjoy listening to music on vinyl, and I like to play board games, specially the co-op ones.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

I’ve been working here for a month now, and I can tell you that you are in good hands with Devolutions. It’s impressive to see how much the feedback and input from our users and community matters to our CEO David, and how it impacts the decisions that are made every day.
