Some cyber scams are easy to spot — like the ones that end up in your SPAM folder and claim to be from “PayePall”, or from yet another fleeing ambassador (those guys sure have a lot of money stashed away, don’t they?).
But other cyber scams are surprisingly realistic, like phony websites, fake CEO emails, e-greeting card scams, and so on.
For this month’s poll question, we’d like to know: What’s the most realistic-looking cyber scam you’ve ever seen?
We aren’t asking if you fell for the scam — because you may not want to reveal that information (though you certainly can if you wish!). What we’d really like to know is what scams had you shaking your head saying: “Wow, this seems so credible and authentic that it’s going to do a lot of damage to a lot of victims.”
You Could Win
By participating in this month’s poll, you’ll help other members of our community develop greater awareness of the realistic scams that may still be out there. You could learn about some new (and scary) scams as well.
Everyone who participates in this month’s poll will automatically be entered to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards. With what retailers call the “gift buying season” just around the corner, it’s an ideal time to have some extra (virtual) cash in your hand, don’t you think? Or you could just buy something for yourself, like this snazzy Harry Potter Gryffindor Patch Knit Scarf.
We’ll look at the results and announce the winners early next month. Thank you in advance for participating — and watch out for those nefarious cyber scams!
