Today it’s my pleasure to introduce you to a member of our Software Development team: Jonathan Trépanier! He finished his internship and is now fully member of our beautiful team since.
I recently had the chance to chat with Jonathan and to learn more about his experience, his role here at Devolutions, and some of his hobbies. Here’s a look at our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your training background?
I studied computer science at the Cégep de Lanaudière à Joliette. The program covered a lot of areas, including installing and managing computers, using programming languages, resolving computer issues, deploying and configuring LANs, applying object-oriented programming principles, using database systems, information security, and much more. It was very informative and challenging.
What would you say is your biggest achievement?
At this point in my career, I would say that my biggest achievement is getting a job here at Devolutions. Many people want to work here. The standards are high, and the hiring process is competitive.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Devolutions over the years, and after spending some time here I can confirm that it’s a really nice place to work. The corporate culture is amazing, and even though I’m new and some people have been here for many years, I already feel like I’m part of the family.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
I am always learning new things, I’m dedicated to my work, and I’m a team player.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?
Right now, I’m assigned to the Wayk Now team. I work on many different tasks, including writing an access control models library and building a service that generates and signs certificates. I’m also involved in working on the on-premises version of Wayk Now, which is called Wayk Den. For tools, I mainly work with CLion or Visual Studio Code, and I code in Rust or C#.
What is your impression of working here?
I’ve played team sports all my life, and as I mentioned, I already have the feeling that I’m part of the team here. The work environment is incredible.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I would like to increase my knowledge and experience, and I’d like to become more valuable to my team members and our customers.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I really like sports, and I spend a lot of time playing or watching hockey — except in the summer. I’m also a fan of the National Football League, and I enjoy camping, hiking, and spending the day on a boat or on a snowboard.
Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:
When they say around here that “we are always listening to you” — trust me, they mean it. So much of our work is based on feedback from the community. I am glad to be here, and never forget that our goal is to help you control the IT chaos in your world!
